Dr. Brian Noble

Dr. Brian NobleDr. Brian Noble grew up on a potato and beef farm north of Shelburne, Ontario. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1975, he moved to the Peterborough area and in 1977 helped establish the Champlain Animal Hospital. Brian is an experienced veterinarian who enjoys practicing all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery.

When not at Champlain, Dr. Noble spends his time biking, hiking, and boating in the summer and skiing in the winter with his family. Presently, Brian has 3 pets, “Wilson”, a chocolate lab, “Teeka” and “Gabe”, two very spoiled cats.


Dr. Nora Fortune

Dr. Nora FortuneDr. Nora Fortune joined the Champlain team in 1990, after graduating from the OVC. Dr. Fortune has experience with all companion animals including pocket pets, and wildlife. Dr. Fortune is passionate about senior pet care, Shelter medicine and education. She has volunteered with the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society and local centres for education for many years.

In her spare time, Nora may be found outdoors enjoying winter and summer sports with her husband, children and several animal companions.


Dr. Jennifer Thompson

Dr. Jennifer ThompsonDr. Jen Thompson graduated in 2001 from the OVC. She and her husband enjoy an outdoor lifestyle with their two daughters and two dogs, “Ryder”, a Boston terrier and “Forrest”, a rescue dog. Dr. Thopmson is one of the five founding members and current treasurer of the Kawartha Veterinary Association. This association provides outstanding specialists from across North America to continue the education of our local animal health care professionals.

When not working, Jen enjoys playing soccer, basketball, hockey, ultimate Frisbee or running, cycling and hiking with her family.

Dr. Tamara Lightbody

Dr. Tamara LIghtbodyDr. Tamara Lightbody is a graduate of the OVC in 2001. Along with her husband, she is raising her kids on the family beef and chicken farm, with their rescued dog Keeper and puppy Hughey and barn cats Olive and Turtle.  Dr. Lightbody has a keen interest and specialized training in veterinary dentistry. She is the current president of the Kawartha Veterinary Association.

Tamara keeps active playing ice hockey and outdoor adventures and takes advantage of any opportunity to travel.  She also enjoys photography, gardening, and making maple syrup on her family farm.

Dr. Carmen Chu

Dr. Carmen ChuDr. Carmen Chu grew up in Whitby and became fascinated with animals at a young age. She has always known that she wanted to devote her life to helping animals any way she could. She has taken care of many animals growing up including hamsters, guinea pigs, lovebirds, turtles, fish and now lives with her beloved Shih Tzu, Angel.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, she obtained her veterinary degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. Dr. Chu joined Champlain Animal Hospital in 2018 and is delighted to be a part of such a caring team. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery and wildlife medicine.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Chu enjoys exploring the world through her travels, spending time with her friends and family, and baking.
